CLASHING
PLAID - most demanded in Philly!
Despite being in
the top five for the entire run of the voting, and having the most
votes, the winner in the Philly area "OPEN for KISS" contest
was NOT
CLASHING PLAID.
THANK YOU to EVERYONE
who gave us so much support in the "OPEN for KISS" contest! We
were truly blown away by all of YOU and the voting, blogging, posting,
sharing, etc that was done to help us spread the word about this
contest!
Philly fans made their
voices heard and made CLASHING PLAID the most demanded band in the
Philadelphia area! Unfortunately we didn't have the right
management or connections to win.
The numbers tell the
story...

“Penny
Collection (2009,
self-released),” the fifth
album from Philly rockers
Clashing Plaid, is a solid
effort steeped in old school
rock n’ roll with enough
punk influence to delight
fans of both genres. The
album features nine new
tracks that range from the
upbeat punk-inspired “Penny
Collection,” “Saying I Love
You,” and “She Loves Fire,”
to the darker side of rock
with “Remote Control Betty,”
to the solid rock anthems
“Johnny” and “Loud Box,” to
the emotional eulogy of
“Long Walk Home.”
The
album features lyrics
inspired by everyday life
(think Social Distortion
meets Bad Religion)
intricately woven with
melodic guitar riffs and
cutting beats (think Rolling
Stones meets Kiss)—evidence
that Clashing Plaid has
honed its synergy on the
music scene for more than a
decade. The guys (Steve
Ackerman on drums and
vocals, Kenny Leso on bass
and vocals, Anthony Porter
on lead vocals and guitar,
and Andy Watts on lead
guitar) also boast a devoted
following of fans at venues
throughout Philadelphia, its
suburbs, and beyond. The
availability of “Penny
Collection” on CD Baby and
iTunes will no doubt garner
the band a broader
following.
Five
previously released bonus
tracks–“Waiting for the
Wrecker” and “Pretty Things”
(“Play It Loud,” 2006),
“Stick Around,” “Emotional
Wreck,” and “Ghost on Main
Street” (“Mix and Match,”
2003)—round out the release.
The only notably missing
fan-favorite is “31 of Those
Days” off of “Play It Loud;”
however, the 2006 release is
solid in its own right and
is available for free
download at
www.clashingplaid.com.
Also not to be missed is the
band’s 1999 holiday single
“All I Got for Christmas Was
Drunk,” also available on
the band’s website.
WOW!! I saw this
band a while back at a local club, they put
on an amazing live show! So much energy. They
didn't have any cd's at the time, so glad
they're up on iTunes. This is a great collection
of songs. A good mix of hard driving
rock,..."Remote Control Betty", "She Loves
Fire", "Loudbox" blew me away. They really
captured their live energy. The few slower
ballads peppered in are cool enough grab you
significant other for a dance, or just start
your feet tapping, I can not recommend it
enough!
PENNY COLLECTION -
review!
by CDJUNKY
Here we have a local band from Philly that
took bits and pieces from SOCIAL DISTORTION,
ROLLING STONES, and The BLACKHEARTS, mixed
together and made their own brand of 3
chord, in your face Rock & Roll. There is
not one bad song on this album.. If you like
a little punk in your rock and a little rock
in your punk, by all means pick this
collection up. After playing this
glorious slab of plastic, I was compelled to
yell ENCORE! ENCORE! ENCORE!! Take a bow
Fellas, you earned it!!
